The Canadian Technology Accelerator for CleanTech (CTA CleanTech):

A “virtual” incubator for innovative Canadian tech companies, helping with market growth and investment opportunities in New York City and Silicon Valley.

 

CTA CleanTech is a joint program between the Consulates General of Canada in New York and San Francisco providing key resources to Canadian entrepreneurs in the sustainable technology space to help them accelerate their growth into the global market — California and New York represent two of the most important markets for CleanTech in the US.

Targeted market sectors include: Green chemistry and advanced materials; energy/water data, analysis, management & control; clean energy; clean transportation and mobility, clean web, consumer engagement and smart grid.

CTA CleanTech provides:

      • Contacts with US Fortune 500 companies, tech scouts from corporations around the world; top financiers; and NY and California utilities, government, and real estate developers
      • Educational webinars tailored to early and growth-stage companies, hosted by experts, strategists, potential customers, and investors
      • One-on-one mentoring calls with advisors; investment pitch practice session with tier-one VCs
      • Graduates of the program are able to take a seat for up to 4 months at a NYC-based incubator or co-working space

  • 2014 Q1 saw a 14% increase in global clean energy investment, totaling $61B; the value of cleantech mergers and acquisitions grew 20% in 2013 Q4
  • Clean energy companies raised $5.3B on public markets globally in Q1 2014
  • A 30% growth in US solar market is forecast for 2014
  • Cleantech adoption is now widespread among world’s largest enterprises; 44% of executives say their corporations plan to spend more than $50M on cleantech initiatives
  • The world’s largest corporations are actively acquiring cleantech companies
